Bio

Katherine Bright draws her expertise from over twenty years of working with, and learning from, trauma survivors. Prior to earning a PhD, Katherine worked for several years as a practitioner/in direct service with youth, strengthening her knowledge of trauma-informed practices. For the last decade, Katherine has worked as a field researcher and research project manager, collecting original data on roughly twelve funded research projects that focused on gender, human trafficking, the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) and/or individuals returning to the community after an experience of incarceration. Her current research focuses on the role and impact of technology on sexual violence, highlighting the ways in which digital records of victimization increase risk and extend collateral consequences for survivors. Outside of work, she tries to walk amongst the trees, read silly books while lounging in the sun, and pretends to like yoga and running, but mostly she just eats ice cream instead.
